The marketing team of our DMC Green Route Africa were invited to experience the Anantara Bazaruto Resort, Mozambique.

Access is via Vilankulos, a small seaside town north of the capital, Maputo. Airlink offers scheduled flights from Johannesburg (5 days a week) and 2 flights a week direct from Nelspruit Airport, allowing a great beach/safari combo. The regularity of these connections will increase towards the end of the year. Upon arrival you are transferred by minivan to the water’s edge, where you board a modern speedboat for the 1hr transfer to the island. Wifi is available and mineral water is served on board. The island also has an airstrip for charter arrivals (reducing the transfer time to 15 minutes).

The Anantara Bazaruto is the only resort on the island, so it really is a completely private getaway, suitable for FIT’s, leisure groups and incentive programs. There are two main room categories: The one-bedroom beach villas are perfectly located just a few steps away from the white sandy beach and come complete with sun beds and hammocks. The deluxe sea-view pool villas and suite villas are located on a hill, a short stroll from the beach. They are more exclusive, each with a private plunge pool, large entertainment deck and two bedrooms.

The theme here is fun-in-the-sun with a multitude of activities to keep everyone busy, from children to the most dedicated sports lover. The imposing sand dunes on the island are ideal for sand boarding and the warm tropical waters make for great snorkeling and diving (the resort has their own PADI centre). Other activities include sunset dhow cruises, horse riding, a tennis court, a fun putting golf course, cooking lessons and a basketball course. Guests can also opt to just relax and soak up the sun next to one of two pools or visit the spa with its magnificent ocean views.

Until now it was a challenge to organize an incentive program in the “hidden tropical and Caribbean treasure of Central America”. The flights were not easy to find (unless they were combined with Guatemala) and that was the main reason for that. A new direct flight launched by Copa Airlines – going from Panama City to Belize City – will solve this problem and creates new opportunities for MICE and business trips to Belize.

Sri Lanka or Ceylon is an enchanting tropical island in the Indian Ocean with golden, sandy beaches, exotic wildlife, rolling hills, tea plantations, colonial towns and friendly people. The traditional greeting, Ayu Bowan – “wishing you a long life” – is testament to this. But did you know that Sri Lanka also is a perfect MICE destination? We will give you 8 reasons why:

32687637-h1-motifs

1. Heritage and history
Some of Asia’s oldest legends are set here and the island has a long history of contact with foreign merchants and powers. Buddhist, Tamil, Roman, Arab, Portuguese, Dutch and British influences can all be found in Sri Lanka’s culture. In addition the Ancient Cities are a fascinating region, full of archaeology, history and natural beauty. Do not miss out on the largest festival of the country Kandy Perahera, that takes place around the Buddhist Temple of the Tooth.

2. Small size: all in one
One of the best things about Sri Lanka as a MICE destination is its small size. Why not spending the morning in the hills watching the tea pickers, go to an ancient Buddhist temple in the afternoon and enjoy your evening eating seafood at the beach? Although Sri Lanka is not that big, landscape varies enormously; from dense jungles to empty golden beaches; from monasteries and temples to cool, misty mountains dotted with the bright saris of pickers.

3. Colombo
Colombo is the economic and political capital of Sri Lanka. A big and vibrant city. Do not forget to visit the Fort, Cinnamon Gardens and Pettah (an old and historically interesting district).

4. Beach life
Sri Lanka is famous for its idyllic beaches. They stretch from the eastern coast all the way around to the west near Colombo. You will find there accommodations that vary from intimate boutiques to luxurious resorts on private beaches and larger hotels in more vivid places.

5. Elephants
You cannot imagine Sri Lanka without her elephants. The Millenium Elephant Foundation and Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage (close to Kandy) give you the opportunity to visit young, elderly and sick elephants but also to wash them yourselves. Not to be missed.

6. National Parks and wildlife
The best places to enjoy the abundant wildlife of Sri Lanka are Uda Walawe, Yala, and Minneriya National Park. Enjoy an exciting jeep safari and take a close look to wild elephants and crocodiles. If you are lucky you can even spot the illusive leopard here.

7. Tea Plantations
Sri Lanka rises up from the coast to the hills. The landscape is marked with tea bushes, and interlaced with streams and waterfalls. The lush character and cool climate seem to be a perfect combination for tea. Did you know that Sri Lanka has long been a pilgrimage destination for tea planters and tea lovers looking for their perfect cup of tea?

8. Air connectivity, hotels and venues
Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo is well connected. It has direct flights from major European, Indian cities and a convenient destination for onward flights to Maldives. With-in Sri Lanka, there are many domestic flights that covers all major destinations. The train connectivity though limited, can be a good option in certain areas. Sri Lanka has a varied range of accommodation options to offer right from Budget 3* to Deluxe 5*. In past few years numerous new hotels opened their doors in Sri Lanka: from tea planters’ bungalows and private beach villas to small boutique hotels. Many historical buildings including gentlemen’s clubs and private homes take in guests. In addition you will find a number of distinctive, elegant hotels and beach villas designed by the country’s most famous architect Geoffrey Bawa.

It’s a wrap: the first edition of our new MICE event The Roadshow was a success! In five days we traveled from Amsterdam to Brussels, Dusseldorf, Munich and Warsaw and met with interesting MICE specialists from all over Europe. Exhibitors showed their destinations and products, guests enjoyed inspiring speakers perform, watched special photography and art exhibitions and created a ‘live art piece’ together inspired by this year’s theme: ‘Art & the City’. In total we welcomed around 190 guests. Curious? Please find a short impression below:

Famous City Amsterdam
The kick-off of The Roadshow  took place in Amsterdam. During this first event in Amsterdam special speakers rocked the stage: Robin Cox of Citinerary and Valerie Reinhold of Redprint: dna shared their vision on how to promote a city / destination, seen through the eyes of the locals or from a personal point of view. Impressive images from the book Famous City Amsterdam (of well known photographer Marte Visser) were exposed throughout the venue and created a inspiring environment for the MICE meetings. Special live entertainment by singer and performer Siobhan de Jong.

Blooming Brussels
Hotel Bloom was the decor of the Brussels version of The Roadshow, a wonderful designed hotel in the city center. People listened to speaker Robin Cox, joined interesting meetings and enjoyed good food and drinks together. Just like in the other four cities, the guests in Brussels created a big art piece together and let their creative minds free.

Doing business in Dusseldorf
The meetings in Dusseldorf formed a vibrant get-together of interesting people who joined The Roadshow to get inspired and above all: to do some business. The meetings went on and on and our guests were enjoying every minute of it. The pictures below show the atmosphere in a nice and arty way, according to the theme Art & the City.

MICE experience Munich
Just like the other cities we had a blast in Munich. The venue was perfect for our one-to-one speed date sessions and created a relaxing setting for a busy business afternoon. Catching up with ‘old’ contacts and meeting with new ones leaded to a magnificent piece of art, designed by all our guests.

Welcome in Warsaw
The last stop of The Roadshow: Warsaw. Mysia3 was decorated with paintings made by Mr. Cieslak. Brainstorming, new ideas, fresh approaches and inspiring business contacts made the fifth day of the new MICE event a successful one.

Good news: in 2017 The Roadshow will continue! Stay tuned for more information, dates and ideas. Looking forward to meeting you there.

The interesting side of working in the travel industry is there actually are no fixed seasons: in summer we are preparing winterwonderland trips to destinations like Austria, Switzerland and Norway,  in winter the summer vibes take over while setting up itineraries for Africa, Southern Europe, Asia and South America. So why not join us and get inspired for a MICE trip to winter fairytale Vienna in Austria? Did you know that the Christmas markets will pop-up in less than two months, earlier than elsewhere?

Biscuits, roasted chestnuts and punch not only at the Christmas markets – even many restaurants in the city have terraces or patios and are available for an outdoor reception with hot drinks during the cold season. After warming up with a steamy hot chocolate you will be ready for a game of “Eisstockschiessen”, the traditional Austrian variant of curling. To be followed by the famous “Ganslessen” – goose, side dishes and schnaps – in one of the cozy Viennese taverns of course.

Already mid-November most of the Christmas markets in Vienna open and spread a cosy Christmas feeling. Everywhere you will smell the wonderful aromas of Christmas trees, hot chocolate and winter spices. Do you have plans to visit Vienna in November? Make sure you will not miss the Christmas market in front of the town hall, opening from November 12th until December 24th.

For those who would like to celebrate the Christmas feeling together with loved ones or colleagues in a private setting, an own Austrian“Almhütte” can be rented exclusively. Roaring engines, cheering audiences and international racing heroes. A Formula 1 race is one of the most exciting events to include in a MICE itinerary or business trip. Especially during a visit of one of the most impressive racing circuits of the world, a Formula 1 experience is an experience of a lifetime. And that is exactly what event organizers and MICE pros aim for: making impressions that will last forever. So why not consider the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2016?

A MICE trip is a success when the guests feel surprised, get inspired by the itinerary and go home with new energy and fresh ideas. Very often a surprising destination is the most important ingredient for such a trip. However, this does not mean that well known cities and destinations can not create this ‘wow’ effect. On the contrary. A good example is Vienna in Austria.

Schonbrunn Zoo Vienna

Vienna by night
Vienna is a popular city trip destination. It is the city of Schonbrunn, palaces, classical music and Sacher Torte. But there is more to discover. Much more. Not only at day time this city is a vibrant and inspiring place to stay. Also at night Vienna is full of suprises. Why not include a zoo-by-night visit in your MICE itinerary? Experience the oldest zoo in the world during the dark hours of the day with wild animals. Schönbrunn Zoo is not only part of the famous and world known Schönbrunn Palace, but also one of the best zoos in the world when it comes to Baroque-style, modern standards and habitat for over 700 species.

Nocturnal zoo experience
In the night time nocturnal animals wake up and the darkness spreads a very special vibe in part of the city. With night vision equipment, the visitors can experience a unique tour through the nocturnal wildlife. Wolves howl in the moonlight, Egyptian fruit bats embark on the search for food and the newly built world of the Polar Bears is a highlight in itself.

Exclusive event experience
This exclusive evening experience gets even more exclusive when entering the Baroque Kaiserpavillon, placed in the center of the zoo. This remarkable venue can be used as a location for an exclusive evening event in an imperial atmosphere. Enjoy majestic views on the zoo’s nightlife while having an exclusive dinner at the Kaiserpavillon.

Africa is an inspiring continent. Nature is breathtaking, people super friendly and the meeting facilities and hotels in the main cities outstanding. Everywhere you can find unexpected experiences that will take your leisure, MICE or business trips to the next level. From visiting a traditional tribe and enjoying wildlife on a game drive in South-Africa to dining with elephants in Zambia.

Dining with elephants - Zambia - Green Route
Extraordinary dinner company
At the end of June 2016 a new activity will be introduced in Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia: dining with elephants. This will be a half day surprising excursion that includes a 20 minute jet boat transfer to a secluded island, interaction with a large family of magnificent, habituated elephants and a delicious meal. The maximum number of people who can join this activity as a group is 50 people.

Eco-friendly venue
At Sekuti Island guests can enjoy tea and coffee and a talk by a well-known modern-day explorer. After they will take a short pontoon ride to The Elephant Café, a new restaurant built on a deck in the Zambezi River. This unique place is set among a resident herd of orphaned and rescued elephants. This small, gorgeous and eco-friendly venue will feature wild edibles and local, seasonal ingredients by chef Annabel.

Dining with elephants - Zambia - Green Route
Danny and the herd
While enjoying a drink at the bank of the café, suddenly the elephants will appear on cue, definitely a highlight of the day. The herd exists of ten elephants ranging from Danny, the huge male with magnificent tusks, to new babies that were born in captivity. Dining with the elephants is an astonishing experience: imagine elephants emerging from the bush and within minutes ending up right in front of you. It is important to note that the elephants are coached purely on reward basis, by using food and compliments.

The dining with elephants experience will be offered as a sunrise, lunch, afternoon high-tea and dinner option.

Rome is one of the most popular destinations for a city trip and Italy a beloved leisure and business trip destination for many years. Yes, we all think we know Rome: the city of the Vatican, the Trevi fountain, Michelangelo and St. Peter’s Cathedral. And of course, Italy is about pasta, Tuscany, ice cream and cypress hills. But do you know where to find the best pizza in town? Or the best ‘hidden gems’ to stay? Let’s take you on a short tour through Italy and Rome and show you where to find these local treasures. Andiamo!

Vespa1

Best pizza in town
The word ‘pizza’ was first documented in 997 AD, in Gaeta Italy. The typical Italian flat bread focaccia turned into the pizza when the people of Naples decided to add tomato sauce as a topping: the pizza as we still know it today. The two most popular ones are the ‘Marinara’ and the ‘Margherita’ (named after Queen Margherita of Savoy who enjoyed this mozzarella-basil-tomato treat at Pizzeria di Pietro in 1889). One of the best places to eat a freshly baked pizza in Rome is definitely Sforno where you can eat the classic pizza. Make sure you will try a Napolitan pizza at Pizza Forum and a sophisticated one at Pizzerium (Via della Melodia 43).

Michelangelo and Rome
Michelangelo is one of the most famous artists of the Italian Renaissance; as a painter, a sculptor, architect and poet. Did you know that he was born in Tuscany (March 6th 1475) in a little village called Caprese, near Arezzo? In 1496 he moved to Rome where he created the ‘Bacchus’ and ‘Pietà’ statues. The famous ‘David’ followed when he turned back to Florence: ‘must see’s’ when traveling to Rome and Tuscany. The best places to see Michelangelo’s work in Rome are St. Peter’s Basilica (Pièta, frescos of Capella Sistina and the Last Judgement) and the tomb of Julius II in St. Peter’s Church in Vincoli. Visiting Florence? Make sure you go to the Gallery of the Academy of Florence, the Medici Chapel, Palazzo Vecchio and the Bargello Museum.

firenze-web-2

Hotels and coolest bars
Enjoying a city trip in Rome is like walking in one big open air museum. A nice hotel is the perfect add-on to keep this extraordinary experience alive 24 hours a day. Some of our favourites: Hotel de Russie, a pearl in the historic centre of Rome. Palazzo Montemartini, a mix of classic and contemporary style and one of the best terraces with a view over Rome.

There is a lot to see, to explore and to enjoy in Rome. From the museums and historical squares to the shopping streets and parks. The city if full of hidden gems when it comes to restaurants, gelaterias and… bars! Not always that easy to find though, but a great evening guaranteed. Enjoy a drink, a cosy dinner or the best gelato in town at one of the coolest places in Rome, like the Romans do: at Bar Sant’Eustachio – an institution and famous for their coffee – the Antico Caffè Greco – a classic – or The Stravinsky Bar in the Hotel de Russie – a very exclusive place.

Joining a local event is a great way of getting to know a destination. From a football game in the USA to the Oktober Fest in Germany. A traditional celebration can be a perfect add-on to any incentive trip or MICE get together. February is the time for masks, music and papier-mâché decorations: let’s celebrate Carnival di Viareggio in Italy.

11008066_957160067629238_5863221985851919754_n

Best Carnival of Europe

Carnevale di Viareggio is a carnival event yearly held in the Tuscan region that gathers thousands of people – tourists and Italians alike – to participate every year. It is considered amongst the most renowned carnival celebrations in both Italy and Europe. Another shade of the beloved Tuscan culture, it deserves a place of honor among Tuscany’s attractions.

12642849_1164941996851043_608864678060405465_n

Join the parade
It was conceived in 1873 as a masquerade event for the rich bourgeois in their discontent at having to pay a too-high tax price. Through the course of time, though, its principal characteristic has become its enormous, animated parade floats.

Gigantic Papier-mâché caricatures of the big political, cultural and showbiz names dominate among the extraordinary machines with movements, that become increasingly complex with each year, showing off the ideal marriage between grandiose scenic effects, new technologies and, of course, the mastery of Italian artistic talent.

Masks, music and more
The entire Carnival of Viareggio is accompanied by masked and musical all-nighters in the streets. These parties find their origins in the so-called ‘colored all-night dances’ (veglioni colorati) from the 1920’s – where the women donned dresses of certain hues and dyes, and the men had to appear in tuxedo. Even the decorations, confetti and tinsel stars had to follow a specific colour theme. Today, the most fashionable bars and locales participate in the celebration, helping to amp up the extraordinary factor of Carnival.

Panama, a tropical destination in South America. Besides sandy beaches and beautiful nature the country has a lot to offer for both MICE and leisure trips.

Panama has a modern infrastructure and an award winning airport with easy connections. World class lodging possibilities are available for all types of MICE and business guests. Just like the Atlapa Conference Center Modern and the Amador Convention Center (to open in 2018!) are. Looking for world class restaurants and a sparkling nightlife? This also can be found in Panama. Modern museums will be a cultural add-on to your MICE trip to Panama. Like the impressive Biomuseo by Frank Gehry.

Most people would love to escape the cold winter and enjoy a little sunshine abroad. Dreaming of white beaches, waving palm trees, having dinner outdoor and enjoy a cocktail while you watch the sun set after a long relaxing or working day. Why not just go for it? From New Year’s Eve to Carnival, Brazil is one of the best places to go in winter time. For leisure and MICE reasons.

Relaxing in Rio

Let’s start the sunny winter journey in Rio, where it is impossible not to jump into the Cariocas (local residents) lifestyle and laid-back mindset. Enjoy the enchanting sound of samba, and relax at the famous beaches, from Copacabana to Ipanema. From Corcovado and Pão de Açucar you can overlook the city. Go surfing at Prainha, hiking “Morro dos Dois Irmãos”, sailing across the Guanabara bay, or simply enjoy the Lapa nightlife and relax at the beach.

Soul food in Salvador

You can feel Salvador’s energy throughout the whole city. Take for example the capoeira circles, or the olodum shows on the streets. While walking the streets of Salvador the delicious smell of ‘acarajé’ and other mouthwatering delights fill the air. Salvador’s culture and African heritage make the city a cultural and charming place to visit.
Brazil Salvador IV
Brazil Salvador III

Berlin, Dusseldorf and Munich. Three well-known cities in Germany, both for leisure trips and for MICE and business events. Professional meeting facilities, a lot of cultural highlights and good restaurants are the ingredients for a successful business stay. However, there is much more to discover. What do you think of Dresden, Hamburg or…. Bremen? Let’s tell you about the 5x Bremen must see’s:

Bremen

Small vs. Big
Bremen is a rather small city (548.547 inhabitants) in the North of Germany. Nevertheless, its world-ranking seaport and position as an important location for automobile manufactures (Mercedes-Benz) and aerospace industry (Airbus) as well as electronics, steel industry and shipbuilding, make it an attractive city. You can reach Bremen easily by train, plane or car. Did you know that the airport is located only few minutes from the city centre? By train you will even arrive in the very heart of Bremen, near the shopping streets. But why choose Bremen for your next MICE or leisure trip?

South Africa is well known for its wildlife, beautiful nature, friendly people, white sharks, Cape Town, Johannes Berg and… its wine! Since 1659 winemaking is an important industry in South Africa. For many visitors, their first encounter with a South African wine list can be a daunting experience.

Franschhoek[photo: Eline van Nunen]

The wine lands, vineyards and wineries are an interesting add-on to any MICE or business trip. A couple of must-do’s and tips to make your South African experience an unforgettable one:

The big five
There are three traditional wine growing regions; Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. But do not forget to visit the Hemel-en-Aarde and Robertson areas, both producing memorable wines.

south_africa_3[photo: Dragonfly / Green Route]

Fruits, smoke and earth
Pinotage is South Africa’s own red variety. The wine is bred in 1923 as a mix of Cinsault (Hermitage) and Pinot Noir. Tip: try Kanonkop and L’Avenir Single Block! Flavours include notes of red berry, cherry, plum, tropical fruit and have a smoky and a unique earthiness character.

Sparkles all over
South Africa’s sparkling wine, made in the age-old French tradition, is called Méthode Cap Classique or MCC. Where to find the best MCC? Franschhoek is considered a prime MCC region, with top farms such as Gra- ham Beck and Haute Cabrière. Other great producers are Steenberg and Simonsig.

Cape Town[photo: Eline van Nunen]

Festival season
A good way to get to know the South African wines is at a wine festival. The top wine festivals to attend are: The Roberston Wacky Wine Weekend (June), the Nederburg Auction (for serious wine buyers – September), Pinotage on Tap (October) and the Franschhoek Cap Classique and Champagne Festival (December).

Austria’s position in the heart of Europe is equally beneficial for participants at numerous conferences, meetings and conventions taking place here. Its capital, Vienna, is considered an important gate to the Eastern European market, and many companies have their headquarters here.

Salzburg Skyline[photo: canadastock, Shutterstock]

Historical heritage
The former empire boasts of historical palaces and places. One can still see and feel the grandness of former times, when Austria was the most important power in Europe. And this is seen in the cultural and architectural highlights, such as Mozart and Haydn, the Schönbrunn palace and Hofburg castle in Vienna.

The landscape along the river Danube, the Wachau, is one of the most picturesque areas, with a long tradition in wine cultivation that stretches back to the time of the Romans.

Visiting Vienna
Visiting Vienna means visiting the great historical buildings, castles and palaces. The city known for its music and atmosphere from past times has in the meantime arrived to the 21st century.

Situated close to the borders to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, Vienna was in the times of the cold war the door to European East and is nowadays the very center of modern Europe. As much as Europe has changed through the times, Vienna did as well.

Vienna is a city of contrasts – traditional sights next to modern landmarks, traditional hotels and palaces for cocktail receptions or gala evenings next to modern architecture and modern designed locations. A charming city full of new development in an historic ambience.

When it comes to traveling in Germany the range of possibilities is striking. Many cities are worth a visit for several days, historic sights are set in scenic landscapes, romantic rivers and wine regions invite you to stay. Cultural highlights, historic or modern, are omnipresent.

Zwinger Dresden[photo: Mapics, Shutterstock]

Inspiring contrasts
Leading international trade fairs and congresses are held in Germany and offer a demonstration of innovation and industrial leadership, while also being a platform for cultural and business interaction.

Germany is located in the center of Europe and easily accessible through many international airports.

The historical highlights and many UNESCO cultural heritage points invite you to stay. Old and modern, traditional and innovative – the contrast is inspiring. From the castles in Bavaria to the hip and trendy city of Berlin, from the historical city of Dresden to the dome of Cologne, many places are full of history and sights. And the beautiful landscapes like the Bavarian Alps with their rural tradition or the river Rhine with its romantic castles and renowned wine production are just a few of the other highlights.

Important international trade fairs and exhibitions, international congresses and conferences take place in major German cities. Many German companies are willing to show visitors around and to share information and experience on technical visits.

Beautiful Berlin
Berlin is one of the most influential centers in European politics and culture. Today, besides its pulsating and trendy appearance, Berlin also stands for historical sights, modern history and political change!

The rapidly changing metropolis enjoys an international reputation for its festivals, vibrant nightlife, contemporary architecture, and avant-garde arts. Being home of people from over 180 nations, Berlin is a magnet for individuals who are attracted by its liberal lifestyle, urban eclecticism, and artistic freedom.

After decades of desolation caused by the Wall, Berlin represents outstanding architecture and culture. The city is formed by its moving past and invites to a journey through the different periods of time. Caused by the long separation in a western and eastern part of the city, a lot of districts have their own vibe and are worth a visit. The German capital offers a variety of sights that is second to none and limitless possibilities of activities and events.

Beach break Southeast Asia houses

Southeast Asia is not only about culture, friendly people and delicious food. No. It is also one of the best beach break destinations you can think of. A lot of islands, long stretched coast lines and a tropical climate. Did you know that even the landlocked Laos has more than 4.000 islands? Time for a top 3 of Southeast Asian beach break hotspots:

1. Caves
The Centre of Vietnam has been famous for being home to the world’s largest cave – Son Doong. Recently two more caves opened, located right in the core of Phong Nha Ke Bang Park. Their spectacular limestone structures are a must-see: imagine thousands of limestone pillars rising up from the bottom of the jade lakes and giving visitors a ‘wow’ feeling. Tours are available between February and August… including a night spend inside the caves!

Caves Southeast Asia

2. Wellness
Ninh Van Bay: a hideaway retreat located in Khanh Hoa Province. Since the only way to access this beautiful bay is by boat, you will instantly get a ‘hideaway’ feeling. The sense of solitude extends further as you explore the surroundings; soaring mountains, dramatic rock formations, pristine beaches and gorgeous coastline. The quiet, natural surroundings and white sandy beach makes Ninh Van Bay an ideal place for wellness activities such as detox treatments, yoga and tai-chi to refresh and re-energise you at a deeper level. Spend a wellness week in Ninh Van Bay and for a zen return home.

Wellness Southeast Asia

3. Best Dive in Burma Banks
For adventurous travelers Burma Banks should be on top any MICE- and bucket list. This site is located 125km west of Kawthaung, outside of the Mergui Archipelago, and has been voted the best dive area in Myanmar. With good reason: it includes enormous flat topped sea mounts, rising to within 15 metres of the Andaman Sea surface!

Conference coast Norway

Photo: Visit Norway

Welcome to the softer side of Norway! Along the coast just a little more than one hour south of Oslo there is The Conference Coast. Think of small villages dotted along the coast each with its own characteristics. The area is home to Færder national park; one of Norway’s few marine national parks and consequently has a rich maritime history.

The area also hosts the largest Spa in the Nordic, region as well as Scandinavia’s largest climbing park. The world’s only female Formula 1 boat driver is from this region and she invites you to join one of her workshops.

Join the educational trip of Authenticore from September 3rd – 5th to try it all out!

For more information on this study trip to the softer side of Norway, please contact us by filling out the form you will find below. On the right side you will find the draft itinerary for this trip.

Unforgettable travel experiences are there to be captured and treasured. Special meetings with locals, beautiful landscapes, breathtaking views and remarkable buildings, all picture perfect moments. However, to take a picture and actually take that special feeling home, is not as easy as it may seem. So why not attend a photography incentive trip and learn how to take the perfect picture? Why not consider Cambodia or Vietnam to do so?

Palo Alto Bayan Saffron

Cat Tien National Park
Cat Tien National Park is one of the most intact ancient forests in Vietnam. For many photographers, Bar-Bellied and Blue-Rumped Pittas are the most attractive birds to photograph. These Pittas are only to be found in the Indochina/Thai region. The true jewels of the forest! The perfect time to spot these special creatures is breeding time (February to March). In those two months the birds usually show their beauty. As well as Pittas, many other beautiful species such as Germain’s Peacock, Siamese Fireback Pheasants, Broadbills, Woodpeckers, Orange-Breasted Trogon and Banded Kingfisher are popular picture perfect animals among wildlife enthusiasts.

birds photography Southeast Asia

Cambodia Bird Watching
Seeing birds in Cambodia is special. Why? Because this country still has a significant spread of deciduous dipterocarp forests, once spread across a big part of Indochina and Thailand. The forests are formerly home to the greatest aggregation of large mammals and water birds that have ever existed beyond the savannas of Africa. It is hard to find such forests nowadays, except from the Northern and Eastern Plains of Cambodia.

Photography Travel Southeast Asia

Make sure you photograph the rarest Ibises; White-shouldered and Giant, as well as many endangered water bird species such as the Bengal Florican and the Greater Adjutant, the Milky Stork and the Black-Necked and Sarus Cranes. A photography tour also gives you the chance to explore Cambodia’s famous Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and… visit the grasslands that run alongside the huge Tonle Sap. So much to see, so much to capture!

Black-necked Stilt of Quintana Texas

Tips for Photography Travel:
+ Spend a day at a local zoo or wildlife park before taking your camera and heading off on real sites.
+ Don’t forget to caption your photo with your experience and shooting information
+ Always “Shoot First”. If you have time, improve your position for a second attempt
+ Everything can be out of focus but make sure the eyes of animals are sharp.
+ Even if you’re traveling alone, book or join a tour to see the local wildlife is an option worth considering. Keep in mind that to access some areas, it is even mandatory.

Florence, a beautiful city in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. But, how about temporary arts exhibitions? Get inspired by these five Florence must-sees and give your MICE trip a cultural twist:

Firenze

  1. HUMAN by Anthony Gormley

From April 26th to September 27th the Forte di Belvedere will be the amazing setting for the exhibition HUMAN, by Antony Gormley. Guests can enjoy his beautiful sculptures in the interior and courtyard of the 16th century fortress. Among the works of Gormley is “Critical Mass (1995)”, an anti-monument evoking all victims of the 20th century, as the artist calls it himself. The exhibition revives the Forte’s history and military power. Impressive.

  1. Middle ages on the road – the Bargello

One of the most interesting museums of Florence is the Bargello National Museum. Especially for its 150th anniversary two rooms on the ground floor are currently dedicated to a great collection of Medieval objects “Middle ages on the road”. These masterpieces are traveling between four important European cities, the so called “the Network of Museums with Medieval Art”: Paris, Vic/Barcelona, Cologne, where the works show all kinds of journeys. The exhibition can be enjoyed and seen in the Bargello in Florence until June 21st.

Located to the west of Inle Lake you will find Kalaw. A small and serene town that offers some of the best trekking trails in the region. Here tourists, sporty adventurers and MICE travellers can explore the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful mountain views while walking in a decor of gnarled pines and bamboo groves. Let’s explore Kalaw!

Kalaw

Shan Plateau
The 22km long Inle Lake is located in the heart of the Shan Plateau, while Kalaw is located 1320 meter above sea level on the western edge of the plateau. Kalaw was a popular hill station in the British days and still is a peaceful and quiet place to relax and enjoy a beautiful part of Myanmar.

Myanmar

Tribe villages
There are various picturesque hill tribe villages and temples to discover in and around Kalaw. Take for example the Thein Taung Pagoda’s Buddist monastery, a place from which you can enjoy the stunning view of Kalaw at its best. Or the friendly Palaungs people, who mainly live in the Kalaw, Shan State, and belong to the Mon-Khmer.

Kalaw tribe

Colonial heritage
Kalaw is quite an off the beaten track destination and also one where Myanmar’s colonial past can still be seen vividly. Examples are the architecture of the Anglican Church and colonial style houses. During the colonial times, this Anglican Church was one of the buildings built by the British in 1906. A beautiful piece of heritage and must-see while travelling through Myanmar and Kalaw.

Kalaw

Food and cuisine
Besides the impressive cultural heritage, remarkable trekking possibilities and stunning views, the food is de-li-cious. A blend of elements of the Nepalese and Indian cuisine can be found and tasted in this part of Myanmar.
