Successful first edition of The Roadshow – 29 August / 2 September 2016

It’s a wrap: the first edition of our new MICE event The Roadshow was a success! In five days we traveled from Amsterdam to Brussels, Dusseldorf, Munich and Warsaw and met with interesting MICE specialists from all over Europe. Exhibitors showed their destinations and products, guests enjoyed inspiring speakers perform, watched special photography and art exhibitions and created a ‘live art piece’ together inspired by this year’s theme: ‘Art & the City’. In total we welcomed around 190 guests. Curious? Please find a short impression below:

Famous City Amsterdam
The kick-off of The Roadshow  took place in Amsterdam. During this first event in Amsterdam special speakers rocked the stage: Robin Cox of Citinerary and Valerie Reinhold of Redprint: dna shared their vision on how to promote a city / destination, seen through the eyes of the locals or from a personal point of view. Impressive images from the book Famous City Amsterdam (of well known photographer Marte Visser) were exposed throughout the venue and created a inspiring environment for the MICE meetings. Special live entertainment by singer and performer Siobhan de Jong.

Blooming Brussels
Hotel Bloom was the decor of the Brussels version of The Roadshow, a wonderful designed hotel in the city center. People listened to speaker Robin Cox, joined interesting meetings and enjoyed good food and drinks together. Just like in the other four cities, the guests in Brussels created a big art piece together and let their creative minds free.

Doing business in Dusseldorf
The meetings in Dusseldorf formed a vibrant get-together of interesting people who joined The Roadshow to get inspired and above all: to do some business. The meetings went on and on and our guests were enjoying every minute of it. The pictures below show the atmosphere in a nice and arty way, according to the theme Art & the City.

MICE experience Munich
Just like the other cities we had a blast in Munich. The venue was perfect for our one-to-one speed date sessions and created a relaxing setting for a busy business afternoon. Catching up with ‘old’ contacts and meeting with new ones leaded to a magnificent piece of art, designed by all our guests.

Welcome in Warsaw
The last stop of The Roadshow: Warsaw. Mysia3 was decorated with paintings made by Mr. Cieslak. Brainstorming, new ideas, fresh approaches and inspiring business contacts made the fifth day of the new MICE event a successful one.

Good news: in 2017 The Roadshow will continue! Stay tuned for more information, dates and ideas. Looking forward to meeting you there.

Business ‘n Breakfast at EIBTM

EIBTM, THE trade travel show, took place in Barcelona from November 18th-20th. Travelmediate was present and organized a ‘business ‘n breakfast’ event for it’s worldwide partners. A perfect kickoff for a couple of busy, business days at the fair.

Business ‘n breakfast
Serhs Hotel Rivoli Rambla in Barcelona was the inspiring location for the Travelmediate ‘business ‘n breakfast’ event at November 19th. Together with our partners from all over the world we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and shared ideas, thoughts and best practices. Travelmediate’s Eline gave a presentation about the social media strategy of Travelmediate while Joost and Raymon shared the Travelmediate best practices, activities and overall vision for 2015. For Joe O’Reilly Ireland Group it was the first time to meet with all our other partners and join the breakfast. Welcome!

Digital world
After a successful breakfast together we headed to the Fira Gran Via where we spent a couple of interesting days at the fair. We spotted new trends, joined presentations and met with new, international travel trade colleagues. Our partners attended beautiful booths and spoke to a lot of interesting people. While exploring EIBTM, a couple of interesting concepts caught our eye. We have noticed that the travel industry is slightly changing from a quite traditional industry to a more high tech and digital world. A few examples:

Virtual and real reality
At the ‘Holland’ Pavilion visitors got the chance to become ‘mayor of Amsterdam’ and get insight into the possibilities of convention centre Rai. Through an ‘official mayor chain’ a virtual reality experience showed them all the ins and outs of the Rai venue. The idea: by ‘bringing’ a huge event to Amsterdam, the event planner or hosted buyer will become ‘a mayor’ for the city. The Catalonia booth surprised us with a 360-degrees experience. By wearing huge Virtual Reality Goggles we virtually stepped into a Spanish street event. Throughout the fair, visitors could follow and communicate with EIBTM not only on the fair ground itself but also via social media.

Tasting destinations
A good way to introduce a destination is through letting visitors literally taste it. During an informative presentation about Poland and the MICE possibilities of this surprising country, we were invited to try some of their famous Christmas liquor and gingerbread hearts. Also other destinations and DMC’s let people try a piece of their (freshly baked) local specialties; from sushi, Eastern pastries and African mimosa’s to sweets and local wines.

Travelmediate’s new office

Travelmediate grows! Time for a new office and inspiring environment in Amsterdam.

We found this inspiring place in the South of Amsterdam: at Anthony Fokkerweg 61. One large office building where a mix of colourful organizations and professionals share one cosy coffee cafe and stylish meeting space. The open character of the building and ‘glass offices’ fit the Travelmediate team perfectly.

Please feel free to come and visit us at AF61. To share thoughts, have lunch or just for a good cup of coffee. You are more than welcome!
