Business ‘n Breakfast at EIBTM

EIBTM, THE trade travel show, took place in Barcelona from November 18th-20th. Travelmediate was present and organized a ‘business ‘n breakfast’ event for it’s worldwide partners. A perfect kickoff for a couple of busy, business days at the fair.

Business ‘n breakfast
Serhs Hotel Rivoli Rambla in Barcelona was the inspiring location for the Travelmediate ‘business ‘n breakfast’ event at November 19th. Together with our partners from all over the world we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and shared ideas, thoughts and best practices. Travelmediate’s Eline gave a presentation about the social media strategy of Travelmediate while Joost and Raymon shared the Travelmediate best practices, activities and overall vision for 2015. For Joe O’Reilly Ireland Group it was the first time to meet with all our other partners and join the breakfast. Welcome!

Digital world
After a successful breakfast together we headed to the Fira Gran Via where we spent a couple of interesting days at the fair. We spotted new trends, joined presentations and met with new, international travel trade colleagues. Our partners attended beautiful booths and spoke to a lot of interesting people. While exploring EIBTM, a couple of interesting concepts caught our eye. We have noticed that the travel industry is slightly changing from a quite traditional industry to a more high tech and digital world. A few examples:

Virtual and real reality
At the ‘Holland’ Pavilion visitors got the chance to become ‘mayor of Amsterdam’ and get insight into the possibilities of convention centre Rai. Through an ‘official mayor chain’ a virtual reality experience showed them all the ins and outs of the Rai venue. The idea: by ‘bringing’ a huge event to Amsterdam, the event planner or hosted buyer will become ‘a mayor’ for the city. The Catalonia booth surprised us with a 360-degrees experience. By wearing huge Virtual Reality Goggles we virtually stepped into a Spanish street event. Throughout the fair, visitors could follow and communicate with EIBTM not only on the fair ground itself but also via social media.

Tasting destinations
A good way to introduce a destination is through letting visitors literally taste it. During an informative presentation about Poland and the MICE possibilities of this surprising country, we were invited to try some of their famous Christmas liquor and gingerbread hearts. Also other destinations and DMC’s let people try a piece of their (freshly baked) local specialties; from sushi, Eastern pastries and African mimosa’s to sweets and local wines.

Slovenia, one of the smallest European countries, lies at the heart of Europe, where the Alps and the Adriatic Sea meet the Pannonian Plain and the Karst. A short drive of just over two hours brings you from the azure Mediterranean to Alpine peaks. The beauty of Slovenia’s spectacular mountains, green forests, emerald rivers, diverse underground world and charming coast are combined with a rich history, picturesque villages and lively cities.
Choosing Slovenia will make any meeting, whatever its size or purpose, one to remember. The recipe for success starts with the warm friendly welcome and the central location, adds the surprisingly diverse landscape and lively cultural scene, mixes in a wealth of sights to see and tops it off with the richness of the cuisine.

This is a story about a land of a thousand islands, her magical nature and rich heritage, her great Men whose great deeds have forever etched the name of Croatia in large letters on the map of the world. This is a story about a land whose beauties have been celebrated since ancient times. From Cassiodorus, who wrote of the divine life led by Patricians on her shores, to Dante, who wrote his immortal verses, enthralled by the epic scenes of the blue expanse, and all the way to George Bernard Shaw, who found his paradise on Earth right here. Croatia has always been a place of true inspiration.
